and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH); Islamic Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO); the Commonwealth
Secretariat and Regional Institute of Higher Education
Development (RIHED), he is known for his contributions

He is the Chairman of the Education Officers National
Cooperative Society (KOPENAS), a committee that looks
into 'teacher grievances' and which led to the Abdul
Rahman Arshad Report; Chairman of the Committee
of Masjid Al-Taqwa of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur;
and Chairman of the Panel of Advisors on the Cluster
School Project, Ministry of Education. His other achievements
include authoring a book Unity and Education in
Malaysia published by Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka
(DBP), and an autobiography Abdul Rahman Arshad:
Kenangan Sepanjang Jalan, also published by DBP,
Tan Sri's illustrious life is also marked by various
honorary degrees and awards like: the Honorary L.L.B.
(Sastkatchewan, Canada), Hon. D. Litt (Universiti Putra
Malaysia), Hon. D. Litt (Herriot-Watt, Edinburgh), Hon.
D. Ed (East London, England), Hon. D. Ednl. Mgnt. (Universiti

D. Ed (University of Malaya), Hon. D. Ed. (Universiti
Pendidikan Sultan Idris), the national award for Education
Leadership (2005), and the Eisenhower Fellow (USA) award.
