His academic qualifications are: Bachelor of Arts (Hons., 1968) from the University of Malaya, and Personnel Management (1982) from the University of Hertford, Connecticut, USA. A civil servant with more than 20 years experience, Dato' (Dr.)Hj. Mohd. Karim held various posts at the State and Federal levels such as the Deputy Director of Services, Ministry of Education (1973 - 1977), Director of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Information (1978 - 1982), State Development Officer, Terengganu (1982 - 1985), Deputy State Secretary of Selangor and Director of State Economic Planning Unit, Selangor (1985 - 1990). In 1986, Dato' Dr. Hj. Mohd Karim was appointed by the state government as Selangor's Chairman of Investment Centre (ICS) to attract foreign investments to Selangor. Under his chairmanship, ICS managed to bring in approximately RM20 billion investments to Selangor and created more than 50,000 jobs between 1986 - October, 1995.

Upon his retirement from government service in December 1991, Dato' Dr. Karim was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), until June 1996. He also sat on various Boards of Directors of state agencies, state-owned companies, PNSB's subsidiaries and associate companies. In 1995, he became the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the UCSI University until presently.

In 1996 Dato' Dr. Karim set up his own business Prima Nova Group of Companies dealing in property development, petrol stations, plastic manufacturing retails, car parks and projects management. He was also the Director of a few private and public-listed companies.

Dato' (Dr.) Hj. Mohd. Karim is active in social work and in non-government organisations. He was the Chairman of Selangor Bumiputera Professional and Entrepreneurs Association for 18 years and the Councillor of Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) for 12 years. Currently, he is the Deputy Chairman of Selangor Malay Chamber of Commerce since 1998, the Director of Selangor Citizens Co-Operative since 2000 and the Vice President of the Council of Justices of Peace of Selangor since 2004.

His academic and professional credentials include a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics, University Malaya (1968), Masters in Public Management (Personnel), University of Hartford, Connecticut, USA (1982), and Honorary Doctorate in Management, UCSI University (2007).

Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Abdul Rahman Arshad is the Chancellor of UCSI University since 23 February 2006.

An educationist and a diplomat with 30 years of excellent service in both government and international organisations such as the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO); the South East Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH); Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO); the Commonwealth Secretariat and Regional Institute of Higher Education Development (RIHED), he is known for his contributions in education.

Upon his retirement, Tan Sri headed various industries such as:

  • Group Chairman of Bank Industry and Technology.
  • Chairman of 5 companies listed under the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
  • Education Consultant to World Bank.
  • Chairman, University Technology MARA (UiTM).

He is the Chairman of the Education Officers National Cooperative Society (KOPENAS), a committee that looks into 'teacher grievances' and which led to the Abdul Rahman Arshad Report; Chairman of the Committee of Masjid Al-Taqwa of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur; and Chairman of the Panel of Advisors on the Cluster School Project, Ministry of Education. His other achievements include authoring a book Unity and Education in Malaysia published by Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka (DBP), and an autobiography Abdul Rahman Arshad: Kenangan Sepanjang Jalan, also published by DBP, 2009.

Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dato' Seri (Dr.) Musa Mohamad was formerly the founding Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 1975 to 1979, subsequently its Deputy Vice Chancellor from 1979 -1982, and its Vice Chancellor from 1982 until his retirement in 1995. He was also the first non-politician to be appointed the Minister of Education of Malaysia from 1999 - 2004.

As the Minister of Education, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Malaysia Blueprint for Education 2001-2010, which saw him championing access to all levels of quality education, including pre-school. His other contributions included introducing vocational education to day schools; increasing access to technical schools; developing a policy to balance the number of science and arts students; championing the English Language and its usage in the teaching of Science and Mathematics; revamping the national primary and secondary school curricula; developing and implementing the Smart School concept to enable schools to have access to the internet; introducing the Community College concept which culminated in the establishment of 34 such colleges nationwide; and introducing and establishing University Colleges in both the public and private sectors. He was also instrumental in the development of research at universities for postgraduate education, as well as in the growth of private higher education.

At USM, Tan Sri Musa was credited for laying the foundation that enabled the USM School of Pharmacy to emerge as the top school in pharmacy and for USM to become one of the nation's top 3 universities. Consequently, upon his retirement as the Vice Chancellor of USM, he was invited to be the advisor of UCSI University, where he played a lead role in establishing the School of Pharmacy and the School of Medicine.

Tan Sri Musa also contributed immensely to international education through his involvement in the South East Asian Ministers of Education Conference (SEAMEO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the Association of South East Asian Institute of Higher Learning (ASAIHL), and the Asean University Network. Between 2001 - 2002, he became the President of SEAMEO and a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO (2001 to 2003).

For all his contributions to the country, Tan Sri Musa was awarded the top federal award and the title Tan Sri by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang Di Pertuan Agong, and the top state award carrying the title Dato' Seri by the state of Perak and Datuk by the state of Penang. He was awarded 7 honorary doctorates in science by the University College of Science and Technology (KUSTEM), University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), North Malaysia Engineering University College (KUKUM), Science University of Malaysia (USM); in knowledge science by Multimedia University (MMU); in philosophy by University College Tun Hussein Onn (KUITTHO); and education by UCSI University. Tan Sri Musa is also a fellow of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society and the Academy of Sciences.

Although retired from active public life, Tan Sri still acts as advisor to several educational institutions in Malaysia and abroad, besides spending time in corporate matters.

Dato’ Peter T.S. Ng founded UCSI University in 1986 as the Canada Institute of Computer Science. Under his leadership, the school developed into a college, university college and finally a full-fledged university in 2008. Dato’ Peter obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom in 1994 while building and running the Group. He also holds bachelor’s degree in computer science and psychology from Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada.

In his professional history, Dato' Peter has held the following roles and positions:

  • Founding Chairman of the Malaysian Logistics Society (2002-2004).
  • Governing Council member/Chairperson (publications and events), Malaysia Canada Business Council (1998-2005).
  • Advisor, Malaysian Chapter of the Canadian Graduates Association (since 1998).

In addition to his own business, Dato’ Peter also worked closely with Professor W. Chan Kim in establishing a Blue Ocean Strategy Institute (BOSI) in Malaysia, currently serving as an advisor. The Institute is a world-renowned business consultancy firm with select branches throughout the world. Dato’ Peter is also a founding member of the UCSI Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre which serves as a BOS leader for 10 countries including Malaysia, Australia, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

In recent years, Dato’ Peter has received significant recognition for his expertise on education and management-related subjects. In 2007, he served as Intervener at the Langkawi International Dialogue on “Poverty Eradication Through Human Capital Development and Capacity-Building,” hosted by the Malaysian Prime Minister. In 2010, Dato' Peter was awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Star Outstanding Business Awards in recognition of his entrepreneurial spirit as the founder of UCSI University. , He was also short-listed as a top nominee for the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and has beenfeatured with five other best-in-class personas in a campaign themed, The Perfectionist - Presented Exclusively by Accord (Honda Malaysia), aimed to inspire audiences to strive for excellence in their pursuit of success.

In his spare time, Dato’ Peter enjoys playing basketball and mentoring young people to help them achieve their goals.

Academician Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff is the third Vice-Chancellor and President of UCSI University.

Professor Khalid’s inaugural year at the helm of the University continues to bring about great achievements and transformations. His dedication to the pursuit of excellence and quality ties in nicely with UCSI University’s founding values and his insight will set the University in good stead. The march to push the University further and higher with passionate commitment and tremendous team effort has elevated UCSI University to Tier-5, an “Excellent” status in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions 2013 exercise (SETARA 2013) awarded by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). UCSI University is at the same Tier as the best universities in Malaysia, branches of foreign universities included.

A clinical cardiologist by training, Professor Khalid previously served as the Dean of Universiti Teknologi MARA’s Faculty of Medicine. Under his stewardship, the faculty recorded tremendous growth and established itself as one of the foremost medical faculties in the nation. Prior to that, Professor Khalid played a number of key roles – including serving as Dean – in a career spanning two decades at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He also served as a consultant cardiologist at both universities where he was instrumental in developing the Heart Centres at these universities.

Professor Khalid began his medical career as a student at The University of Melbourne, Australia. He was then trained in Cardiology at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. On returning to Malaysia, he built a strong career in academia, bolstered by national and international recognition of his contributions. He is a firm advocate of research and development and his findings are frequently published in high-impact international journals. His papers are cited and referred to by many of his peers, adding credence to his standing as an academic. What Professor Khalid brings to UCSI further enhances the University’s strong links with the industry and its vibrant student life.

The latest addition to Professor Khalid’s ever expanding list of accolades and awards is a Doctor of Medical Sciences (honoris causa) conferred by his alma mater, The University of Melbourne, Australia in October 2014. The citation for the honorary doctorate by the Melbourne University’s Council identifies him as a person of distinguished eminence in medical science, research and effective medical education. His international outlook was best demonstrated in his development and forging of strategic partnerships between UCSI and world leading universities, culminating in UCSI’s proudest moment when our top Year 2 medical student was selected for an intercalated research year at Harvard University in the USA.

Professor Khalid is happily married to Professor Datin Paduka Dr Khatijah Mohd Yusoff, a molecular biologist who is presently the Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She was the former Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Well-travelled and global in his outlook, Professor Khalid obtained most of his many qualifications, Awards and fellowships from renowned universities and professional bodies in England, Australia, Scotland and the United States. In 2000, he received the Dato’ Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan (DPSK) from His Highness the Sultan of Kelantan for his services to medicine.

In 2010, Dato' Peter was awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Star Outstanding Business Awards in recognition of his entrepreneurial spirit as the founder of UCSI University. , He was also short-listed as a top nominee for the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and has beenfeatured with five other best-in-class personas in a campaign themed, The Perfectionist - Presented Exclusively by Accord (Honda Malaysia), aimed to inspire audiences to strive for excellence in their pursuit of success.

In his spare time, Dato’ Peter enjoys playing basketball and mentoring young people to help them achieve their goals.

Academician Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff is the third Vice-Chancellor and President of UCSI University.

Professor Khalid’s inaugural year at the helm of the University continues to bring about great achievements and transformations. His dedication to the pursuit of excellence and quality ties in nicely with UCSI University’s founding values and his insight will set the University in good stead. The march to push the University further and higher with passionate commitment and tremendous team effort has elevated UCSI University to Tier-5, an “Excellent” status in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions 2013 exercise (SETARA 2013) awarded by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). UCSI University is at the same Tier as the best universities in Malaysia, branches of foreign universities included.

A clinical cardiologist by training, Professor Khalid previously served as the Dean of Universiti Teknologi MARA’s Faculty of Medicine. Under his stewardship, the faculty recorded tremendous growth and established itself as one of the foremost medical faculties in the nation. Prior to that, Professor Khalid played a number of key roles – including serving as Dean – in a career spanning two decades at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He also served as a consultant cardiologist at both universities where he was instrumental in developing the Heart Centres at these universities.

Professor Khalid began his medical career as a student at The University of Melbourne, Australia. He was then trained in Cardiology at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. On returning to Malaysia, he built a strong career in academia, bolstered by national and international recognition of his contributions. He is a firm advocate of research and development and his findings are frequently published in high-impact international journals. His papers are cited and referred to by many of his peers, adding credence to his standing as an academic. What Professor Khalid brings to UCSI further enhances the University’s strong links with the industry and its vibrant student life.

The latest addition to Professor Khalid’s ever expanding list of accolades and awards is a Doctor of Medical Sciences (honoris causa) conferred by his alma mater, The University of Melbourne, Australia in October 2014. The citation for the honorary doctorate by the Melbourne University’s Council identifies him as a person of distinguished eminence in medical science, research and effective medical education. His international outlook was best demonstrated in his development and forging of strategic partnerships between UCSI and world leading universities, culminating in UCSI’s proudest moment when our top Year 2 medical student was selected for an intercalated research year at Harvard University in the USA.

Professor Khalid is happily married to Professor Datin Paduka Dr Khatijah Mohd Yusoff, a molecular biologist who is presently the Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She was the former Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Well-travelled and global in his outlook, Professor Khalid obtained most of his many qualifications, Awards and fellowships from renowned universities and professional bodies in England, Australia, Scotland and the United States. In 2000, he received the Dato’ Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan (DPSK) from His Highness the Sultan of Kelantan for his services to medicine.
